The steering wheel is very unusual, I don't know if this was an optional Murray steering wheel with a recess for a horn, or if it was something someone made? Water pump pulley off a full sized car or truck. And I believe it has "Ford" written on the side of it in script, see photo.
The car body itself is in good condition and has several thick coats of paint on it. In the photo you can see the original paint color for the car was maroon, which is still present beneath the one headlight.
The car retains its original rear wheel frame and assembly. The front frame and assembly is largely present, but missing the right axle and the pedal assembly. They make reproductions for both of these.Note that I have used a brick to prop up the right front side for the photos. I'm guessing the seat originally had padding of some kind. Please check out the photos. These original restorable 1940s Murray Comets are getting hard to find these days, especially ones largely intact like this one. Car measures 40" long, 17" wide, 18 tall.
It weighs 29 pounds, 14 ounces. I picked up this car in Texas in the 1990s, it has really great patina and character so I've left it unrestored all of these years.
