Vintage 1950's AMF Junior Rocket Trike Tricycle with Rare Disc Ventilated Wheels

This listing has a lot of info, so be sure to read carefully. For sale is this rarer vintage 1950's, possibly pre 1956, AMF Junior Rocket Trike, space jet themed kids tricycle that is a model with the disc rims with factory ventilated holes. There are many types of the Rocket-Trike but just have not seen any that have the disc rims instead of spoked rims.

Based on some info I found, it appears the wheels division moved out of Hammond in 1956. All the wheels are hard rubber stamped Clipper Puncture Proof by R. Rubber Company of Akron, OH, front wheel size is around 9.5" diameter, rear wheels are 7" diameter. Trike is 23" front to back, around 14.5" tall at the front red lens, and around 15 wide. The trike is still operational and intact, it has obvious wear to what appears to be original gold/bronze finish or paint, but area under seat on top of main tube has a little red paint, so just guessing the factory spray did not cover that minimal area, no signs anywhere else of other paint colors.

Seat has the jet style as do the corners of the back standing plate, also has 2 stars in the metal on back, streamlined front fender, does not appear to have had a wire guard like many did, no idea if original handle grips but they sure could be. The plastic nose lens is intact but has wear and marks, by putting a light on it you can see spider cracks from taking a pebble or ding, did not attempt to twist it out at all, tightly in with just a little minor unevenness. There are lots of surface rust spots where the paint is gone, spots where there are dents or dings, wear to the rubber tires but still intact well, a few minor stress cracks but treads are intact, wear to pedals and corners but intact, fender remains straight, seat and back plate are sound, little unevenness to the back plate and rear axle, but all sound structure wise. More surface rust under plate and seat, nothing is rusted out or even close that way, solid metal, back plate was probably spot welded to stay on fixed axle but they are apart, nothing serious.

Handlebar remains very sound and straight, lots of set screw marks on the stem, rims are sound with a lot of surface wear, few small bends, but remain straight. Main tube structure is also sound. Very interesting trike that would be great refinished, especially with the disc type rims. Be sure to check out the photo's closely and to read the entire description.
